Summary

"The River Boss" by Stewart Edward White is a story set in the dangerous world of early 20th-century river log driving, where getting logs downstream on time is everything. We follow Jimmy, a determined river boss who needs to drive 5,000,000 feet of logs downriver fast. Even though he's small and keeps his cool, Jimmy's super skilled, and he's not afraid to get creative when things get tough, breaking the law to get the job done. As Jimmy battles log jams and icy waters, he raises the water level of a dam unlawfully. In the end, his commitment to delivering the logs on time leads to his arrest, showing how far he will go to get the job done.
