Regina, or the Sins of the Fathers

"Regina, or the Sins of the Fathers" by Hermann Sudermann is a story set in the late 1800s which follows a younger man who has to deal with the sins of his father. The story follows Boleslav von Schranden, who comes home from war and faces a society that despises him because his father betrayed the country. He is torn between wanting to be honorable and dealing with how people see him because of his father's actions; he also deals with feelings of love while dealing with his family’s history. The story shows how war affects people and how hard it can be to live in a society that is struggling to recover after conflict.
