Summary

"Stories from The Arabian Nights" retold by Laurence Housman is a compilation of enchanting stories, probably adapted in the early 1900s, that tells of ingenuity and daring adventures. It begins with the legend of Scheherazade who cleverly uses storytelling to avoid her death sentence. Housman sets the stage by mentioning stories such as “The Fisherman and the Genie” and “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves,” highlighting how they will showcase magical and fantastical journeys that illustrate Eastern folk themes. The tale of the fisherman introduces a world of humor and complexity as he outwits a powerful genie.
