The Evolution of an Empire: A Brief Historical Sketch of England

"The Evolution of an Empire: A Brief Historical Sketch of England" by Mary Platt Parmele is a historical exploration of England, tracing its development through the lens of religion, economics, and historic resistance. Beginning with geological factors and the lives of prehistoric inhabitants, the book moves through Julius Caesar's invasion and the profound impact of the Roman occupation, including the struggles of figures like Boadicea. This sets the stage for understanding England's history, including its culture and conflicts, as it unifies under Saxon rule following successive invasions and settlements.

Mary Platt Parmele was an American historian and writer.
