Summary

"Mark Twain's Speeches" by Mark Twain is a compilation of spoken words from the late 1800s that shows Twain's funny and smart thoughts about the world, government, and people. The book kicks off with W. D. Howells talking about how Twain's words hit harder when you hear them, pointing out that Twain was great at both writing and getting a crowd going. Then, it jumps into a funny story from Twain's life, where he hangs out with famous writers, mixing jokes with smart takes on things. All this sets the stage to show off Twain's likable personality and how his speeches fit into his well-known writing career.
