Summary

"The Long Trail: A Story of African Adventure" by Herbert Strang is an adventure story where two brave Englishmen named Hugh Royce and Tom Challis embark on a daring mission into the unknown lands of Northern Nigeria, hoping to strike it rich by finding tin. What begins as an exciting quest quickly turns into a perilous struggle for survival, filled with encounters with fierce tribes and the unforgiving challenges of colonial life in Africa. Early on, Royce and Challis, along with their Hausa helpers, face a devastating scene – a village destroyed by tribal attacks, leaving them stranded without resources or safety. As they press forward, they confront their growing fears of crossing paths with the violent Tubu tribe, setting a tone of suspense and testing their resolve to continue despite the rising dangers.
