Summary

"Grit A-Plenty: A Tale of the Labrador Wild" by Dillon Wallace is a story set in the Labrador wilderness in the early 1900s. It follows the Angus family, which consist of Thomas and his children including young Jamie, and their neighbor Doctor Joe, as they face tough times. When Jamie begins to lose his sight, threatening total blindness, the family's peaceful life is upset. The story is about how they deal with problems, about family, about friendship and finding hope even when things get tough. Jamie and the other kids go on a trapping expedition and work with an Indian named Jake to make money to pay for an operation that can save Jamie's sight. The challenges they face in the wilderness—combined with their relationship with Doctor Joe—show how strong they are.
