Billy Whiskers' Adventures

"Billy Whiskers' Adventures" by Frances Trego Montgomery is a fun children's story about a goat named Billy Whiskers, along with his buddies Stubby the dog and Button the cat, who jump right back into action as they make their way back to America after serving in the war. When they arrive to New York Harbor after their wild experiences overseas, they find themselves in a sticky situation and almost get sent back to the army by some sailors, but luckily the quick-thinking friends come up an a plan to get away. Once they’re back on land, a kind old sailor’s uncle offers them help, but they are worried they will get captured, again, so they create a new getaway plan of their own. The story kicks off a lighthearted world full of animals who can think and act like people, hinting at all the fun they will have while exploring the busy city as they try to find Billy’s family.
