Set in the early 1900s, the story is a mix of romance and comedy, where the characters start a chicken farm, leading to lots of funny problems because of Ukridge's wild ideas and lack of planning. Garnet is trying to work on his writing when he hears from Ukridge, a loud and energetic man who always finds trouble. When Garnet finds out about the chicken farm, he gets pulled into the craziness and invited to join the project.
