Summary

"Prosperity's Child" by Eleanora H. Stooke is a story about the Wyndham family, mainly about Ruth, the oldest daughter, who has a lot of responsibilities managing at home because they don’t have a lot of money. At the beginning of the story, it is a foggy day in November and the family is close even though things are hard. Ruth cares a lot about her dad being sick and how they will pay for things, and it makes her sad because she wants to do more in her life. But, when her dad talks to his old friend, Dr. Reed, things might change for Ruth because Dr. Reed says one of the daughters can go to a better school, and so the two families make decisions that will affect how the rest of their lives play out. The beginning of the book is about family, wanting to do better in life, and how money can make life very different for people.
