Summary

"Before Adam" by Jack London is a novel about a person who has very vivid dreams of the stone age. The main character, known as Big-Tooth, has a childhood filled with scary dreams about primitive ancestors from long ago during the Mid-Pleistocene epoch. In the beginning of the novel, Big-Tooth feels disconnected from others because of these nightmares of terror and a longing to be connected. His dreams reveal Lop-Ear, who is his friend, and also the scary Red-Eye, who is ominous and violent. Big-Tooth’s story is about his fears, how he discovers nature, and the natural instincts that drive his life.
