Summary

"The Story of Viteau" by Frank R. Stockton is a historical novel that throws us back more than six centuries to Burgundy, France, where young brothers Raymond and Louis are growing up in a world of castles and nobles right after the Duke of Burgundy's defeat. As they spend their summer days dreaming of the future, their carefree childhood is about to change forever. Louis is off to learn how to be a knight with Count de Barran, while Raymond will stay behind with their mother, the Countess of Viteau, to keep studying. Their mother is dedicated to giving them a good education, which was unusual back then, especially for noblewomen; however, danger is stirring as a mysterious religious figure and whispers of religious inquisition threaten to upend their lives and test the bonds between the brothers.
