Summary

"White Wings: A Yachting Romance, Volume I" by William Black is a tale set in the late 1800s where a group of people, headed by the Laird of Denny-mains, set sail on a yachting adventure. The story gets going on a bustling dock as people wait for a boat bringing Mary Avon, who was in Edinburgh taking care of a sick family member. As we meet the Laird and his friends, we learn what they think about Mary, who they see as nice but not very strong. They are thrilled to meet her, even though they are a bit taken aback by how she looks. This first part of the story sets up the relationships between the characters and suggests interesting things that might happen as they travel together on the yacht, "White Dove," focusing on romance and social standing along the Scottish coast.

About the Author
